SAN DIEGO, Ca. – February 2007…CAGE, just the name implies the image of unbreakable steel and an inescapable trap. Critics and fans alike have tried to label or classify this 5 piece group from the glistening shores of San Diego, Cali-fornia, with terms like "pure millennium metal", "classic metal for the new age" or "modern day power metal".
Although a full-length CD was recorded in 1995, it has still remained un-released. It wasn't until 1998 that CAGE re-leased their first full-length CD appropriately called "UNVEILED". It was blowing people away. The reviews began com-ing in and they were unbelievable.
Then the calls started coming in from Europe. Cage entered in a prestigious best-unsigned band contest for German ROCK HARD magazine. The competition for 1999 had over 600 bands competing and the winner was selected by the fans votes, not the critics. CAGE has always been a band of the people and this competition was no exception as CAGE won the contest by over a 2 to 1 margin an were rewarded with the possibility to play at the DYNAMO festival in 1999.
CAGE signed their first record deal immediately after their ripping performance in front of an estimated 8,000 at the 1999 DYNAMO Open Air festival. After a brilliant performance there they were selected to play the prestigious WACKEN Open Air Festival in Germany and the METAL DAYZ Open Air Festival in Switzerland.
CAGE was able to hone their live skills in front of huge crowds on a consistent basis by opening for virtually every touring metal band that came through the region. Whether it was amphitheatres with IRON MAIDEN and DIO, sold out theatres with JUDAS PRIEST and DOKKEN or simply headlining on their own, CAGE always made the most of their opportunities delivering shocking power, and the instant gratification to new audiences due to their catchy yet heavy material. CAGE developed a huge fan base that kept them at the top of every promoters list because they were professional and more importantly to them, sold tons of tickets.
CAGE released “ASTROLOGY” and "DARKER THAN BLACK" and “Darker Than Black” was hailed as an instant classic by many of the metal industry leading magazines and webzines worldwide by getting dozens of perfect reviews and scores and especially the metal hungry army of loyal CAGE fans.
The review of “Darker Than Black” in the prestigious German metal magazine HEAVY received the very top score from the magazine's journalists and finished in the #1 position on their Soundcheck chart list for the month of March 2003
2006 saw the band entering Richard Carr Studios in San Diego, California once more with producer / engineer Richard "The Guru" Carr and with CAGE vocalist Sean Peck and guitarist Dave "Conan" Garcia assisting in the recordings as executive producers of their 4th CD which was now known officially as HELL DESTROYER. The blood soaked attempt to record the perfect beast marrying the best of classic American heavy metal and European power metal resulted in the creation of HELL DESTROYER, one of the most intense and soon to be legendary heavy metal albums ever made within the confines of the genre. Follow the Apocalyptic events of the ultimate battle between Heaven and Hell, with mind crushing CAGE heavy metal magic, and a fully illustrated graphic novel booklet.
The story of this concept album travels through time from the Crucifixion up to a modern day New World Order, to a demonic invasion of the earth and finally the resurrection of the Metal Devil himself 100 years after the end of the world! This massive epic is 75 minutes of relentless head banging with the soon to be classics that only CAGE can de-liver with a extended illustrated booklet. 2007 finds CAGE releasing HELL DESTROYER with MTM MUSIC and planning a major comeback on the international live concert scene.
