As an artist, Mark Boals is very consistent with his output. Whether it be his solo projects or his band Ring Of Fire, or even with Yngwie. His style is consistent as is the song writing.
You know whay to expect and Mark delivers.
On this new solo album we get a musical style closer to his straight ahead hard rocking days with Yngwie Malmsteen, rather than the slightly more progressive Ring Of Fire releases.
This is melodic heavy metal, with screaming guitars, screaming vocals all with a big in your face delivery.
I personally like this best of all Mark's releases, only as it has a more straight up song writing approach.
The album has it's theme, although there is some musical diversity within it.
At times the sound is melodic metal World On Fire & Lady Babylon, at other times Mark encompasses a heavier darker guitar sound such as on Taking Control.
As far as other highlights, the heavy modern rock meets Zeppelin ballad Up To You also works for me.
With guests like Erik Norlander, Vinny Appice, Virgil Donati, Tony MacAlpine, Chris Brooks, Neil Citron and Jeff Kollman, you should expect high quality musicianship and that's what you get.

The Bottom Line
It won't be for everyone, but those into neo-classical metal or high energy guitar shred should take a lot of enjoyment out of this.
Boals' voice is in fine form, with lots of high notes featured along side the obligatory metal screams.
And although the production might not be as clean as the last Ring Of Fire release, it's still pretty good.
Long time fans of Boals' will be the most impressed.
