Stan Bush truly is one of the Gods of melodic rock. His solo recording career started of back in 1983 with the release of his self-titled album, but it was four years later in 1987, with the classic melodic rock album 'Stan Bush & Barrage' on Scotti Bros, that he began to make waves. This album received great reviews in the United States. Intercord Records, the Scotti Brothers German affiliate, sponsored three tours, all of which generated a great response from the press: Bravo, Pop Rocky, Metal Hammer, and Kerrang, who named the album 'Best Import Rock Album' in England. The second tour opened for Lou Gramm (of Foreigner) and resulted in Stan receiving excellent press and a third tour which was a sellout. Tracks from the album were selected for two films: 'The Touch' was the title track for 'Transformers: The Movie', whilst 'Heart vs Head' was featured in the movie 'The Wraith' starring Charlie Sheen.
As a vocalist, Stan has sung on many major albums, including releases by Alice Cooper, Jefferson Starship and Rick Springfield, while as a songwriter he supplied, among others, House of Lords ("Love Don't Lie") and Quiet Riot ("Slave To Love").
Stan then wrote with Jonathan Cain (Journey, Bad English) and Jim Vallance (Bryan Adams, Aerosmith), for his third album 'Every Beat of My Heart'. The album was promoted by a highly successful European tour supporting Survivor.
In 1996 BMG Europe released Stan's album, 'The Child Within'. The album generated two singles, 'Never Wanted To Fall' and 'Til I Was Loved By You', the latter of which won an Emmy Award for Best Original Song after airing on “Guiding Light”, a popular American soap opera. Another song from the album, 'Capture the Dream', was featured in the 1996 Olympic Games and aired on NBC in a special tribute to the gold-medalists of the U.S. Swim Team.
In 1998 Stan hooked up with Frontiers Records, for the resurrected Stan Bush & Barrage project album 'Heaven', which again received rave reviews in the melodic rock press. To promote this album, Stan made a memorable appearance at the Gods 1999, where he tore through a set full of classic which held the spellbound audience totally in awe.
In 2001 Stan returned to the recording with 'Language of the Heart', an album produced by Curt Cuomo (Kiss, Steve Perry etc.). "Language of the Heart" gained an excellent feedback from the press and critics as it maintained his consummate ability for instant melody whilst still retaining the edge previously displayed on the Barrage albums. Stan also appeared live once again at the GODS festival in Wigan during 2003 with great acclaim from the crowd.
2004 sees the man releasing his brand new slice of melodic rock. The new album “Shine” is a melodic rock gem and definitely another great step to restore the faith in the songwriting and performing abilities of this great artist. Featured on the album is an amazing lineup featuring guitarist Tim Pierce (Rod Stewart, Phil Collins, Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Joe Cocker, Goo Goo Dolls etc.), bass player Matt Bissonette (David Lee Roth, Gino Vannelli, Steve Perry, Peter Frampton, Joe Satriani etc.), Curt Cuomo on keyboards and drummer Kenny Aronoff (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tony Iommi, Celine Dion, Amanda Marshall, Richie Sambora, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, Meatloaf, Jon Bon Jovi etc.), with former Boston and Airplay singer Tommy Funderburk helping out on background vocals. Stan also shot a video for the song “Falling” which is the highlight of the album and definitely a true melodic rock classic in the making!
“Shine” is another true classic from one of the best loved artists in the scene today, and one that will surely be promoted on the live circuit in the not too distant future.
