milesABOVE are the brainchild of 22-yeard old singer/ songwriter Tim Hicks. Based in Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada the band was founded in April 2002.
milesABOVE have constantly gained themselves a loyal follow-ship in Canada and are now ready to conquer Europe as well with their rocky sound, catchy hooks and the powerful voice of Tim Hicks.
Despite the young age, Tim and milesABOVE are by no means green to the music business.
Through the time, they have managed to open for numerous Canadian recording artists including BLUE RODEO, CRASH TEST DUMMIES, WIDE MOUTH MASON, EDWIN, AMY SKY, and MARC JORDAN to name a few. Tim also toured Europe with a Toronto band and joined Canadian rockers SERIOUS JOE (Aquarius) as a touring guitar player and back-up vocalist on a cross Canada tour as well as on some notable television appearances (Open Mike, Canada AM) - quite an electrifying performance resume.
After composing over 50 songs with Niagara producer Corey Macfadyen (SERIAL JOE, UP YER KILT, BRIGHTON ROCK), the nephew of Jack Douglas (AEROSMITH producer) and son of famous Canadian producer Lachlan Macfadyen (HARLEQUIN), 12 songs have been selected and the milesABOVE album is finally set for a release in Europe on September 8th.
Corey Macfadyen also is responsible for the full production on the album “Further” which took place at the Theatre Recording Studios in Fonthill, Ontario. Tim is continually writing and cites the songwriting talents of Lennon and McCartney as his principal influences. He also adds MATTHEW SWEET, U2, QUEEN, TONIC, JELLYFISH, SUGAR RAY, and THE CARS as additional influences in his writing, performing and overall musical taste of the band.
Longtime friend and band mate Sherman Arnold takes care of bass duties, while twen brothers Anthony and Adam Mancini play lead guitar and drums respectively, allowing Tim to shine at the front the band, playing acoustic and rhythm guitar when needed.
Hicks says: “Upon completing the album we felt it would be a good idea to take the band out and play these songs that Corey and we had written. The result is milesABOVE! The album took about a year in the studio to complete, but we are very proud of the outcome and excited to be releasing the album on ESCAPE MUSIC! The Band is now touring in Canada and the response to the material has been very positive.”
