Jettison Eddy Reviews so far:
From Hard Rock Haven - www.hardrockhaven.com
Comments: You have to admit that over recent years there has been little to no groundbreaking bands or artists to rise up and dominate the music world. Sure everyone praised the emergence of Nirvana in the 90s but like Kurt Cobain's short lived career, grunge came and went, to be replaced by music that appeals to the animalistic cravings of youth.
It's a blessing that AOR music has maintained its foothold in the music industry. Without AOR music, fans of 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s music would be left with little excitement and enjoyment. Now I am a fan of 80s metal, progressive rock and instrumental guitarists but I can say I am a truly fan of musicians that craft songs full of emotion, melody and exhibit heartfelt passion for songwriting.
Jettison Eddy is most certainly one of those groups that has these elements incorporated into their debut release, "Trippin On Time." Their music falls under the AOR flag and features a slew of influences and yet holds firm to their unique brand of rock. The CD was produced by Keith Olsen who has worked with many great artists over his career. Jon Manitta, who handles the vocals and spilts guitar duties with Rick Krusky, penned the songs on "Trippin On Time," he did a fabulous job of writing one of the best CDs that I have heard in recent years. It is not often that you hear a strong vocalist, strong songs and solid musicianship, all on one CD release. Let alone listen to a complete CD were each song is deserving of praise.
As far as I am concerned there is not a bad track on "Trippin On Time." My personal favorites include "On My Own," "Trippin On Time," "You" and "Save Me." The rest of the songs hold up equally well under scrutiny. Jettison Eddy as a band features a maturity on this debut release as songwriters and musicians that most bands never achieve in their short lived careers. The band hails from Omaha, Nebraska, hopefully they can ride the wave of a top notch CD straight to the top of the charts.
Favorite Tracks: On My Own – Trippin On Time - Save Me
Bottom Line: The CD release by Jettison Eddy “Trippin on Time” is a real gem. After many grueling hours, days and even weeks of listening to release after release, it is always nice to find the diamond in the rough. The CD has a modern edge merged in with classic rock overtones and should appeal to classic rock and fans of AOR music.

I always like to get albums out of the blue that succeed in attracting (and keeping) my attention. "Trippin On Time" from the American (Omaha, NE) band Jettison Eddy is such an album and what's more: it has been produced by no one else than Keith Olsen for Pogologo Productions. It's a long time ago that I read this on the back cover of an album.
Jon Manitta obviously rules the roost: not only did he write all the songs, he also sings them and plays the guitar. The material is straightforward (melodic) hard rock, with some modern influences, performed in a smooth way and excellently produced (of course). "Trippin On Time" aims at lovers of contemporary hard rock, although I'm sure that even some fans of old school rock ('n' roll) could like the album as well. A nice surprise, indeed!

Review by Kimmo Toivonen - April 2004
What is AOR, Adult Oriented Rock in 2004? The answer could be Jettison Eddy. I'd imagine that many of you readers would associate AOR with Journey, Survivor, Bad English and the likes, but if you think about the term Adult Oriented Rock...Jettison Eddy are clearly making rock music that's aimed for the adult audience, as opposed to the rock bands catering for the younger audience - nu-metal, emo-rock and other "hip" styles of today. Surely this is more likely to please any fan of the melodic rock genre than the the latest CD by Linkin Bizkit or whatsitcalled.
Somehow the band has roped in the legendary Keith Olsen to produce their album. Indeed the production is top notch, and you can't find anything wrong with the musicianship either. When it comes to the songs, the AOR'04 style is a bit more understated than the classic 80'ies AOR style which I do prefer, but at it's best it's not bad at all.
The best songs here are the brilliant opener "Long Break", the catchy "Trippin' On Time" and the moody "Tonight We Run". You can hear that the band is influenced by the likes of Matchbox 20, Pearl Jam and Three Doors Down, but it might just be that the band has also listened to some more "classic AOR" acts such as Journey. Interestingly enough, more than once I was reminded of early nineties cult AOR band Tall Stories, a band that was ahead of their time back then...
It's a bit disappointing that almost half of the album is filled with tracks which are totally forgettable, as the songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Jon Manitta proves on the other tracks that he can come up with fine melodies and hooks. Therefore my rating won't go any higher, but still, this album is worth of investigating if you're after new flavours to your AOR diet.
