Brian McDonald
Bio - short
Background:
Concert pianist turned rock singer/songwriter Brian McDonald has roots that reach deep into two worlds. Having written in a wide range of styles in both rock and orchestral music, there is no mistaking the melodic and harmonic signature of this artist. With his unique and powerful voice, enormous hooks and harmonies, Brian utilizes a unique musical palette to create songs that span a wide range of rock songwriting styles.
History:
Brian's course into the popular music mainstream began in the late 1980's as he hooked up with CBS/Sony Records to release the album “Desperate Business”, an effort that saw the release of the two singles “This Lonely Heart” and “Life is a Desperate Business.” As an independent producer and writer on staff with A&M Records' publishing company, Brian continued collaborating and performing with rock artists for several years until 1991, when he broke his ties with the rock world to pursue his love of classical music on a path he had followed since his youth. For almost a decade, Brian returned to playing and composing orchestral and piano music, performing concerts as a solo pianist and accompanying orchestras.
In March of 2000, a personal rock and roll reawakening was realized when Brian's critically acclaimed album “Wind It Up” (MTM Records) was released, heralded by both fans and critics worldwide.
Today:
Back in force on Atenzia Records, Brian's new release, “Voyage”, is imminent. Coursing through the veins of this latest foray into melodic rock is the spirit and energy of new discovery. Come aboard as Brian sets sail in early 2003 with this incredible set of over a dozen melodic rock gems.
