The first ever live Cozy Powell recordings see the light of day on this two CD set recorded in a club in Hamburg, Germany in 1970. Before Bedlam there was Big Bertha - powerful blues rock that paved the way for much of what followed. For lovers of Zeppelin, Cream...and Cozy!
As Bertha / Bedlam bassist tells the story, it goes something like this: “…we arrived to play this club show, and these two German guys set up a Revox tape machine and a couple of mics at the front of the stage and asked if they could record the show. We said OK, and then won the tapes off them in a card game after the gig…!”
Of such things are rock n’ roll legend made. These recordings are, by their very nature, a little rough…but they are also incredibly important, being as they are the beginning of the Cozy Powell phenomenon!
QUOTE : "People who want to buy this however are either die-hard fans of Big Bertha (which later re-emerged as Bedlam) or interested in recordings with a documentary value. Either way, this is the first ever live Cozy Powell recording!" Rock Report, Belgium 3/6
