Review
|
While not every album has to be a hook filled masterpiece, or a formula filled melodic rock friendly release – it would help to have at least one song that captures the imagination of the listener.
I really don't know what's up with Robert Plant these days.
The Plant/Page album was a crushing bore that contained one good song, while this album doesn't even have that.
This is so self indulgently dull and lifeless that I am barely able to stay awake long enough to type this.
The album is mainly covers, but does contain a few originals also. But nothing stands out, as Plant has slowed the pace to a place where movement is barely detectible.
In amongst the covers are several originals, but these two are devoid or any real zest.
What happened to the genius that wrote, recorded and released the utterly essential Fate Of Nations or the high-tech masterpiece Now & Zen?
Plant needs a major kick in the ass.
I am sorry if I offended any fans of his, but for those that have not yet leapt in this album – leap elsewhere.

Points Summary - The Bottom Line
|
The songs are mostly clasic covers, but Plant's performance is lacklustre. Running time for 11 tracks is 10 minutes too long (at least) and sequencing is neither here nor there - as all the tracks are relatively laid back.
Artwork is simple but effective.
No faults with the production, that was never going to be an issue.
