Paul Shortino from Rough Cutt and solo fame shows his versatility as a singer on this album of strong blues tunes. He reminds me of the singer Andrew Strong, from the movie The Commitments, with his hard hitting vocal approach to the blues. Paul Shortino shows his voice has great range with this collection of mid paced sometimes funk driven tunes and truly shines on tracks like Stand Or Fall and the awesome There Goes Another Love. This is quite a departure from the singer we have all come to know and love and that is what makes this a cool record. It is always nice to hear good singers stretch the boundaries a little, every now and then. This record certainly does that and in a tasteful way. make no mistake this ain't no rock record! This is the blues through and through. Recommended for fans of Shortino first and foremost, but if you have yet to be sold on the man and like a touch of blues, this might just sway you into the fold. | ||
