Another strong pop album - what's the world coming to? Another Swede too - what is in the water up there?
Mikael has released a few albums prior to this, more in an AOR vein, but this one moves into the current musical climate a little, with a strong modern pop sound mixed with the familiar sweet vocals of a more traditional AOR release.
There are some vocal effects and a high-tech production to modernize the sound, but the basis of this record is 12 great pop songs.
At times there is a retro / Beatle-esque pop feel, not unsimilar to what the Rembrandts are very good at. At other times it's a high-tech 80's feel and elsewhere it's still pure AOR.
I read a comparison to early Rick Springfield. If Rick had been born in Sweden I'd have to agree. There's also a little John Farnham in there and plenty in common with current power pop acts like BBMak and Invertigo.
Tracks like Out Of Champagne, Stop and I love You are just too catchy not to like as long as you are into the softer pop side of melodic music.
There's not a duff track to be heard on this album, comprised mainly of uptempo numbers, which helps the album flow really easily.

If you like it soft, pink and fluffy, check this out immediately. For fans of pop music and sweet feel good songs, with strong vocals and (thankfully) a guitar presence, you couldn't go wrong.
