Mars Needs Women are a band fronted by Shawn Mars, who has been around the scene for some time.
The band toured with Cheap Trick and have had a video on MTV in the mid 90's.
When the band had some time off, he went on to sing for Skid Row members in their new project called Ozone Monday and took a shot at arena shows opening for Kiss and Motley Crue. He will have a track on the new Skid Row album that he wrote while playing with them as Ozone Monday called, “Born A Beggar”.
He also released a 70's cover record on Main Man and was featured on two compilation discs. In the last couple years, he guest starred as guitarist for New York Dolls legend, Sylvain Sylvain, Ian of The Bay City Rollers and Cherie and Sandy of The Runaways.
If that doesn't spell out a good rocking pedigree, then nothing will! This album is a mix of old school hard rock and nu-breed flavoured pop/punk, with two tracks here produced by Butch Walker.
This is essentially a fun time, feel good party rock record in the vein of Marvellous 3, Cheap Trick and Joey C Jones.
A highlight is the production, which for a small label offering a punk/pop style release is quite high. The opening track Red Means Go is an instant classic with a memorable hook.
In fact, the songwriting quality here is good throughout the album.

The Bottom Line
Good strong vocals, a better than average production quality and some catchy party rock tunes are all highlights of a good American nu-breed style rock n roll record.
