Evidence One formed out of a planned solo project for Frontline's guitarist/keys/songwriter Robby Boebel.
Discussions ensued and a band project was born. Domain vocalist Carsten Schulz comes on board, as does Shakra's powerhouse drummer Roger Tanner and Robby's band mate Thomas Bauer on bass.
The team these guys form ensures that this is quality all the way.
But more than that - I was pleasantly surprised just how good this is. It should be no surprise, as the guys are all classy musicians, but this album is more a complete package.
The production is fantastic - heavier and thicker than Frontline; more along the lines of Shakra.
The style is less AOR and more heavier European hard rock. In fact, it's one of the better album's of this genre for the year.
The album is filled with big heavy rockers with strong melodic hooks.
Add it a fill of acoustic guitars and the occasional keyboard fill and you have something closer to a perfect heavy Axe record or a more melodic Shakra album.
Another highlight and strong feature of the album is the songwriting. That's the glue that binds a good album together and this album is stuck tight.
Strong lead vocals and harmony vocals help add melody to the tough rock sound of the album, as do the lead guitar parts and keyboard effects.
But strong hooks and choruses make this a strong album from start to finish. There are changes in pace, but mostly, this is an uptempo hard rocking album.

The Bottom Line
|
The sum of al parts is what makes a good album great. It's hard to pick the three best tracks, as there are no fillers.
This has just about everything. Mind you, it will still appeal to fans of European hard rock, than fans of more mainstream commercial American hard rock.
Makes sense - the guys are all European!
