Review
|
Brighton Rock return to CD racks in the form of a new live album, recorded earlier this year.
The guys have aged a little and maybe don't quite look like the rock Gods they once were, but on stage, they can still come through with the goods.
This album runs through 14 tracks, with songs off all previous studio albums.
I have a particular liking for live albums that aren't studio enhanced, or over dubbed This one is live, raw and should be an easy like for fans of the band.
The sounds quality isn't a million dollar sound, it is a little rough around the edges, but the songs are well mixed and all instruments are clearly audible.
Vocalist Gerry McGee sounds a little rough occasionally, his trademark snarl is a bit gruff, but hey – it's live and it's rock n roll!
Of particular favourite is the big ballad of the live set One More Try.
Great song, great hook and a cool raw, live version.
A solid live album that will appeal to and please most long time fans of the band. Newcomers might be better to start by checking out on of the band's studio records.

Points Summary - The Bottom Line
|
A good performance and great songs that have established themselves over the years.
Live albums have to be long and at 74 minutes, it doesn't getmuch longer for one CD, so points there.
The production is pretty raw, but that has a beauty to it.
Artwork is average - could hav ebeen better, especially given the band's previous covers.
