Blue Oyster Cult have such a lengthy and solid legacy of albums, they deserve not to be compared to any other band out there. They are who they are. But for the sake of a comparison, listening to their new album reminds me of so many bands. At times I hear the likes of Bad Company, John Kilzer, Deep Purple, AC/DC, The Cult and even Led Zeppelin on one track. With the exception of John Kilzer's Midwestern style acoustic rock, all of the above acts are classic rock treasures, which only goes to prove who Blue Oyster Cult are and what their style encompasses. They are the very embodiment of an American classic rock act! They are one of the best straight up, no bullshit, 70s style classic rock bands out there. And this their latest album proves they have lost none of their spark or enthusiasm for a good rock tune. Vocalist Eric Bloom is the perfect American rock vocalist. A smooth, understandable, yet powerful voice. Drummer on this album is none other than Bobby Rondinelli, who you will see shortly wit his own project. | |||
