You can almost go back to my review of Richie's last and debut Blackmore's Night album and paste it here with new song titles.
This is pretty much the same thing all over. If you liked that album you will love this one.
It's more of Richie's sweet acoustic and semi-electric playing and soloing and more of Kandice Night's lovely voice flowing over it.
But is this really what fans want to hear from Richie Blackmore - King of blues hard rock?
I will probably get more hate mail for daring to slander the great man, but seriously - this is for die hards only - those that will take anything Richie serves up with pleasure.
On listening to this I felt like I was back in medieval England, which Richie will probably take as a compliment as that is precisely the aim.
The album is mainly sung by Richie's fiancée Kandice Night but Possum Goes To Prague has a rare Richie vocal. Interesting! Throw in a few soft instrumentals and there you have it.
But it's not really my thing, so I will pass on this.
My criticisms aside, you will not find a better played or written Renaissance influenced record and you will still have to go a long way to find any better guitar playing in this day and age. If soft acoustic tunes with sweet non over-baring female vocals does it for you, then look no further.
Rock fans steer clear.
