How cool is it to hear the great Jeff Keith's vocals again, joined by fellow ex-Tesla guitarist Tommy Skeoch? Too cool. It's been too long. Bar 7 is the second or third incarnation of Jeff and Tommy's post Tesla project and finally we get to hear new music. Joining the guys in Bar 7 are Ray Hinkley on guitars, Steve Smith on bass and Denis Bostok on drums. The life of this volatile outfit is yet to be determined, as Tommy has apparently already bailed. That is exactly why there is no consistency in the US hard rock market these days. But regardless of that, the guys have made a great rock n roll record. This record doesn't touch the golden days of Telsa, as there was a really special chemistry there, but this is the next best thing for sure. | |||
Freaked opens the album with a sonic modern rock blast that might worry a few. It's a cool track, but not representative. 4 Leaf Clover and the excellent acoustic emotion of Got A New Life are far better and will be well liked by any old fans. No Show has once more a more modern and aggressive approach, which should please fans of the more contemporary bands like Union and Hair Of The Dog. Love Is Such and All Natural are both cool emotion filled ballads, while Lady Bug is reminiscent of the best of acoustic driven Tesla. She Don't is a cool aggressive rocker that encompasses the best of both old and new worlds.
