I haven't heard Babylon AD's debut album for years and currently can't quite locate it to use as reference for this review. But that is probably unneccessary anyway. Any true fan of this band that didn't quite break out of the late 80's early 90's American metal underground, are going to get so into this live recording. Live albums are generally a pay off to fans for their support, but in this case, Live In Your Face may just encourage new fans to the band through the live energy and raw hard versions of the band's songs that have been captured here. The initial success of this album has seen the guys get back in to the studio recently to start recording a new studio album. If they take half the vibe of this live album into the studio with them, it will surely be a winner. The hard rocking screamer Bang Go The Bells kicks the album off and twelve tracks and no pause later it ends with Rats In The Cellar. Enormous energy. The tracks are taken from several live gigs and a sound check for good measure. Babylon AD may not be for everybody, and this record may not be perfect, but with energy like this it will be hard not to get sucked into this and whatever they do next. | ||
